Childhood is filled with innocence and dreams but there is one wish which we all shared as a child was to grow up fast so that we can do anything we want like grown ups.No one will ever tell you to not have that extra candy , not to talk to strangers ,not to talk wise because you are supposed to be foolish as a child. As a child we did everything to fit into grown up world ,irony is after becoming a grown up we don't want to fit into that world anymore. I still don't understand why does all the toys during our childhood encouraged to grow up , for example those Barbie dolls or kitchen sets or building blocks they all gave us glimpse of felonies of grownups ,Barbie was always beautiful and happy even when she couldn't talk ,move,or break a body part ,those building blocks were so complex yet when we solved it we used to feel immense pleasure but we felt ecstasy to break it down and build it way we want it.
Now let's use our time machine and reach to teenage life when we were kings and queens of our lives and thought our crushes were our life partners. Twilight movies made us fall for vampires ,Jelena (Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez) were couple goals ,WhatsApp was cooler than Instagram and friends were try hards.We wanted everything in world but had zero knowledge and zero social skills.At that time also we wished to grow up so that we don't have to ask for pocket money from our parents or permission for sleepovers or have a boyfriend/girlfriend because that would distract you from your goal to get admission in best college.
College times were the best.Period.More freedom,more people to meet,new adventures,new crushes,new possibilities,new dreams and a very happening life.That is how a normal college student lives in college, obviously it differs for everyone.But even then when we don't have to think about "how to earn more and spend less" ,we wanted to grow up.We wanted to wear those suits and even though we have seen our parents always tired and cranky about how life has been unfair to them, we still wanted to bloody grow up.
Congratulations now you are a grown up, every morning you get up with anxiety over how to complete your targets or deadlines which you will discuss in the office with your boss and crib about it in the evening to your therapist. You will not complain, technically you cannot right because you always wanted to grow up , you choose this life so now endure the pain with a smile.You have your monthly bills pilling up,so you can obviously not think about how good you used to play guitar in your college, or how applaudable performance of Romeo and Juliet was given by you. You can't be that because you have to live in reality where everyone has money as the only motivation and even if you agree or not, lose your sanity ,tell your heart to shut up and keep on doing what you are doing because that job feeds you.Drinking and frivolous parties are the only ways of entertainment for you.Blind dates , dating apps are ways to make you feel loved.Posts with filters of your last vacation where you first time realised your loneliness and how messy was the housestay you saw in internet.Somehow you keep on browsing those pictures ,ahh and those childhood photos ,maybe because you suddenly miss those days when you had no responsibilities or need to remember brands or find a purpose of life which are mostly induced by the extra motivating philosophical thoughts you read in social media.
You achieve your dream to become a grown up and now you have more freedom but suddenly everybody expects you to be same when they are themselves lost , when you are arrogant and a paper of exchange controls your life decisions..Grown ups are funny and now they just want to be child again.Let not child inside you die because that keeps you alive.Growing up is overrated, it's a trap anyway.
